I came across these two ‘Number Seven Chairs” or sometimes known as “3107” chairs in a online classified ad in Orem, UT. There were two of these black chairs for only $15!! I wanted them, but figured they’d be gone by the time I made it to Orem next. So after the BYU vs SDSU football game my brother and I attended a week later I called up the lady to see if they were still available. To my surprise they were, so we headed over on the way home and picked them up. They’re practically in perfect condition except for a couple minor scratches. They’re really comfortable chairs and an icon in the world of furniture design, designed by Danish architect, Arne Jacobsen in 1955. Some of his other famous pieces include the ‘Swan‘ chair and ‘Egg‘ chair.

They really are cool looking and the perfect color for anywhere. Why was the lady getting rid of them and for so cheap?

These people get all kinds of things at auctions and resell them. They happen to get these chairs included in one of their lots and must have not thought much of them. I don’t think they knew. I didn’t know exactly they were real until I got there and checked out the bottom.

What does the bottom of the chair tell you? Is there significance to the company that made them?

I posted a better photo, so when you click on it it will enlarge better. It just shows the authenticity produced by Fritz Hansen who has been making these since the 50’s.
